Thank you for visiting CIAA’s Congress website. The theme for this year’s Congress is “The Food and Drink Industry in the 21st Century – Generating Growth, Serving Consumers, Respecting the Environment”. Once again, we will tackle issues that are ‘top-of-mind’ for the industry as well as day-to-day challenges we all face as consumers. As the largest manufacturing sector in Europe, with an annual turnover of Euro 870 billion in 2006, and providing direct employment to over 4 million people, the EU food and drink industry is an important pillar of the European economy.
On this website you will find all the practical details concerning our Congress on 27 & 28 November in Autoworld in Brussels. We will be updating this site regularly, so please check frequently for the latest news, information and other relevant details.
In the parallel sessions – Generating Growth, Serving Consumers and Respecting the Environment, attendees will be able to access the latest available information on these important topics and engage in interactive debates with our high-level speakers from the European Institutions, consumer organisations, science, press and industry.
The interest in the food we eat has never been greater. Consumers feel passionately about it – how it is produced, where it comes from, its quality and its price. Such an opportunity should therefore not be missed. The EU food and drink industry faces many challenges and the objective of our Congress is to identify trends and in particular strategies to improve the overall performance of our industry, continuing to meet consumers’ needs and to strengthen its ability to meet these challenges.
